Panasonic VIERA G1 Series TC-L32G1 32-Inch 720p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Panasonic VIERA G1 Series TC-L32G1 32-Inch 720p 120Hz LCD HDTV Review

We purchased the TC-L32G1 in January after a bad experience with a TC-L32S1 in December (see my review there). The TC-L32G1 has worked great. The initial set up was easy and the colors, contrast, controls are good. We like the features. The only down side is the sound. It is more than adequate for our bedroom. We do notice a difference in sound between some channels so the volume variance in some cases is due to the broadcasting station. If you are purchasing this TV for a living or family room you will probably want to invest in a surround sound system. The overall purchase experience with Amazon was A+. I would recommend this TV for a bedroom or an office or den.

  • Dynamic contrast 20,000:1 for the brightest whites and darkest blacks

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S3000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S3000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

first i must start my review by sayin thanks to the boys & girls who have postes such helpful reviews.second i want to say thanks to amazon for givin its customers the ability to express there views about product that they've purchased.
my name is THADDEUS i live in the caribean on the island of ST.KITTS. it took me 4 months of readin reviews & comparing with other brands. the reason for this is because where i live we don't have best buy, circuit city, walmart etc......where u can go in & see the actual tv, & get some sone to explain the spec to you. thus made me read & read & read reviews. i finally made up my mind & purchase the " SONY KDL 32S300", not because i have other sony products but because of good customer reviews.

THE LOOKS-: beautiful right out of the box, with a neat shape & a black finish. it doesnt have too mush inches on the sides & the table top stand give it s square look all around.other brands have a square shape but an oval table stand, which kinda kill the design.

THE WEIGHT-: its not too heavy, & its not too light. the weight is just managable with a nice balance feel to it.

THE CONTROL-: the control has a precision feel with the right button spacing, which wont have ur finger tied up. the "HOME BUTTON" is very fun to use, also the OPTION, WIDE, & INPUT button give u a short cut to PICTURE MODE, SOUNDS & EXTERNAL INPUTS with have to directly going to settings.

THE SET UP-: the set up was easy for me because it is similar to the ps3 & PSP XMB........"XROSS MEDIA BAR". if u have either systems it should be an easy set up. if u dont it should still be an easy set up.

this is the setting i use & get super excellent picture...even with standard cable.

MOVIES:
well im impressed with the clear, bright colours, the clean crips quality. the sound did a great job for just 2 front speakers & to consider its a 32" tv. you have to see for your self......

MUSIC:
i listen to rap, r&b, dancehall, pop, rock and ive found that no matter what type or genre i listen to i got good sound quality. the vocals was clean, the bass was boomin enough and the over-all experince is great.

GAMES:
i have a ps3 and i have it hooked up using the sony hdmi cable. the one that comes with the usb cable.

motor storm: ive played dust devil, mud pool, coyote ridge and my favourite tenderizer. the mud looks real as real can be . u can see every grass & every srub.

unchared- drakes fortune: the jungle looks lush, the water looks stunning & the level where eddy chases drake in the jeep is beautiful, the light seemin dowm in the trees is jaw-dropin

devil may cry 4: watchin nero use his devil bringer in play never look so good. mission 7 is what i played & the lighting is awesome. when using dante have him do the million stab combo...that is eye candy

ridge racer 7: this game is fast & i never see any blur....ive played shadow caves & lost ruins........as expected the garss is green, the dark in the tunnels is fabulous.

resistance fall of man: when u have the bulleyes its fun to see the bullets fly across the screen. when u throw a grenade the effect is just staggerin...every particle u can see them like u were in the game

NOTES:
ridge racer is a full 1080p game

the setting does aply to all inputs. you will have to set all individual settin to each input...ie video, component 1&2 etc

its best to set the back light to min. setting it to high will make the picture too bright and generate too much heat. also the tv will burn more electricity. if u go too close the tv when the backlight is on high u can feel the heat on your skin.

the volume has a neat bar when you increase or decrease the volume. other brands has huge bars when you increase or decrease

if electricty goes while watchin the tv, when it somes back the tv will automatically comes on. note a good idea, because if u have to go work & you are @ WORK when electricty comes back the tv will be on all that time

u can name your inputs...instead of video 1,2,3 u can give them names like ps3, dvd player etc

CLOSING:
in closin i gave ths tv the rigorous test. i threw everything i thought of at ths tv & all i got was stunnin picture & excellent sound.i just cant stop watchin it..........thats my only prob.

thanks amazon
thanks sony
thanks ladies & gents

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S3000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Specifications

Sit back and enjoy an unprecedented level of depth, color and clarity with this 32" Class (31.5" diagonal) BRAVIA S-Series digital LCD HDTV. Beautifully styled and built to the highest standards, this television adds class to any room while its picture makes watching your favorite movies and TV programs even more enjoyable. With the BRAVIA Engine full digital video processor, you immediately notice improved color and sharper details, no matter what you're watching. For uncompressed, all-digital audio and video integration, this HDTV features HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) and PC connectivity that lets you seamlessly hook up compatible PCs and components to the large display. An innovative light sensor also monitors ambient light in the room and automatically adjusts screen brightness, making it much more comfortable for viewing.

BRAVIA Engine Full Digital Video Processor
BRAVIA S-Series LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations with more detail, enhance contrast, and dynamically improve color performance. > Digital Noise Reduction Circuits: Reduces block noise and mosquito noise by using pixel-level filtering to reproduce a clean and clear picture. And Motion Vector Noise Reduction reduces just the noise in the video signal for video further reducing unwanted noise and blur artifacts. Digital Contrast Enhancer circuit: Improves contrast by enhancing all areas from dark to bright in parallel with texture control providing a three dimensional picture. > Color Reality signal processing enables the expression of all the colors of life in vivid detail for dark and bright scenes. Details in dark areas of the picture are there, just like they are supposed to be.

Live Color Creation (featuring WCG-CCFL)
Live Color Creation is a special Sony function that achieves precise, wide color reproduction using a combination of advanced chroma signal processing algorithms. A special wide color gamut backlight (WCG-CCFL) is coupled with Sony’s Live Color Creation circuitry. The benefit is clear blues, natural greens and overall vibrant colors in all scenes.

Xross Media Bar (XMB) On-Screen Menu System
Xross Media Bar is Sony’s Emmy Award2 winning on-screen navigation that provides quick access to various set up functions and features. For instance selecting different types of media is made fun and easy by scrolling horizontally across icons until you find the type of media you are looking for. After selecting the media type, a list of its content appears as vertical thumbnails. Key set up menus and features work the same way. The main benefit of the XMB is that users can navigate through on-screen menus without taking their eyes off of their TV.

DMe Compatibility
DMex compatibility allows the connection and operation of a whole new category of products that is being developed by Sony (sold separately). The first of these products is the optional BRAVIA Internet Video Link module.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync
BRAVIA Theatre Sync reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, changing the signal routing, and adjusting other functions to the simple push of one button. All you need to do is to connect BRAVIA Theatre Sync capable products to each other via one HDMI cable. The rest is easy. For instance, the One Push Play function activates by touching the play button on the remote and BRAVIA Theatre Sync takes over from there. The BRAVIA Home Theatre System and TV turn on. The DVD input on the BRAVIA Theatre system and TV activates. The TV mutes. And finally the DVD plays. There are two other BRAVIA Theatre Sync functions - One-Push Theatre Settings, which provides optimal picture and sound settings for movies and One-Push System Shut Down for turning off the entire home entertainment system.

BRAVIA Internet Video Link
The first DMex product to be introduced to the market is the DMX-NV1 BRAVIA Internet Video Link module (sold separately). BIVL, as it is affectionately called, can stream available Internet video from select content providers directly to your TV with a broadband connection3 without the need for a PC.

S-Force Front Surround
S-Force Front Surround is a virtual surround sound experience made possible using just two front speakers in select BRAVIA models. To accomplish this, Sony spent several years studying how our ears work. By understanding exactly how we recognize the origin, direction, volume and timing differences in sound right and left ear, Sony was able to create complex audio processing that delivers dynamic virtual surround sound without the need to bounce sound off walls and back to the listener.

HDMI and PC Connectivity
Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s BRAVIA S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The HDMI and PC inputs (HD-15-pin) offer easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

Light Sensor-2
Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.
Freeze Function
Sony’s Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

Haier HL32R 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV

Haier HL32R 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV Review

We bought this to hang outside in our new summer kitchen and it has a nice picture and we are very pleased. My only gripe, and it's VERY minimal, is that we couldn't figure out how to remove the round part under the TV that connects it to the base. So when it's hanging on the wall, that looks a little dumb, but not a huge deal.

Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L32X1 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L32X1 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

I agree with many of the people who have rated this item. Nice picture. Sound sometimes needs to go as high as possible (100) if a fan is on or there is other noise. we live in a very quiet neighborhood so there is no outside interference with sound. A bit complicated to set up as we are very low tech oriented. People have said there are many ways to hook up outside things. Evidently our outside things are old and there is only one place to hook up DVD/VCR player. (Those things with 3 color tagged prongs) When we want to play wii, we have to disconnect DVD/VCR. Not sure what all those other things are for. Maybe in time, we will make it easier on ourselves and figure it out.

Philips 32PF5320 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HD-Ready TV

Philips 32PF5320 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HD-Ready TV Review

We bought this HDTV at Sam's Club. It had been previously purchased and returned sating it had bad sound. A local TV repair shop tested it out and nothing was found to be wrong. Sam's knocked 0.00 off thier price since it had been opened. I have tested this TV using every connection and found it to be an outstanding unit. I hooked up our Motorola cable top box to the HDMI input on the TV. The cable box (Charter Cable), has a DVI-D output, so I am using a DVI-D to HDMI converter cable. (Bought the cable at Wal-Mart for .00) It is a totally digital connection this way. The picture is fantastic even on non-HDTV signals.
I hooked up our DVD player using the Component video inputs and keep the DVD player on progressive scan, again a great picture.
I have not found any negatives except the remote which is small and hard to handle. I think they made it small/thin to go with the LCD thin TV design. My only complaint, which isn't really an issue for most, is that using composite or the HDMI input for the DVD doesn't allow selecting image formats. Some older DVDs use a native 16:9 display and are not widescreen enhanced, hence you get bars all the way around the image, much like a picture frame. However, most DVDs are widescreen enhanced so they fill the entire screen, or most of it. Also, when expanding an image, you would get less detail because it is "stretching" the video to fit the screen. BTW: Most HDTVs are not capable of changing formats when using anything but the RCA/SVHS hook-ups anyway.
I think most everyone would be happy with this HDTV!

Philips 32PF5320 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HD-Ready TV Feature

  • 32-inch LCD TV with CableCard slot for digital cable; measures 36.7 x 21.65 x 8.75 inches (WxHxD) with tabletop stand
  • 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 18 ms response time, 500 cd/m2 brightness rating, and 600:1 contrast ratio
  • 3D comb filter eliminates cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion; Digital Crystal Clear video processing
  • Inputs: 2 composite, 2 S-Video, 1 component, 1 HDMI, 1 RF, 1 PC VGA
  • Two stereo speakers, 15 watts apiece (30 watts total)

Philips 32PF5320 32-Inch Widescreen LCD HD-Ready TV Specifications

Save space and enjoy a wonderfully vivid picture with the stylish, 32-inch Philips 32PF5320 widescreen LCD TV, a great choice for small- to medium-sized living rooms. It has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner for standard television broadcasts and is capable of displaying crisp high definition video with an optional HD receiver. This set can also double as a PC monitor, and with its Picture-in-Graphics small window in the main picture, you can simultaneously view your PC's desktop as you watch television programming. This set includes a tabletop stand, but it's also wall-mountable with optional kit (VESA compatible--200mm x 100mm).

The 32PF5320 has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 176-degree viewing angle, very fast 18 ms (millisecond) response time (great for sports), a 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and an 600:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) Other features include Philips Digital Crystal Clear video processing chip (for optimal color, contrast, and sharpness levels), an anti-reflection coated screen, auto volume leveler, adjustable color temperature and sharpness, sleep timer, and V-Chip parental controls.

The 3D comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. This set also performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.

The Active Control function uniquely and intelligently optimizes picture quality by measuring and analyzing the incoming signal to automatically adjust picture quality settings. Active Control with Light Sensor uses a sensor to adjust the picture brightness depending on the room light conditions.

This TV has two built-in stereo speakers that produce 15 watts per channel (for 30 watts of total power), and can produce Dolby Digital virtual surround sound, emulating a 5.1-channel sound field from just two speakers. It also offers the following connections:

  • Composite AV (RCA) In: 2 (1 side)
  • S-Video In: 2 (1 side)
  • Component Video In (Y PB PR): 1
  • HDMI In: 2
  • RF In: 1
  • PC Audio In: 1
  • PC VGA In: 1
  • Headphone: 1

Tech Talk
HDMI -- HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

Panasonic TC-32LX85 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

i bought this from a seller i found on amazon at christmas time and i dealt with them directly. i got this for 6.00 over two months ago after much research with no tax and free shipping. it showed up at my door 2 days later. i bought this for my bedroom and it's been played a lot! i could'nt be happier with it! the picture is stunning! a clear, crisp and sharp picture! the contrast ratio is only 10,000-1 so it looks better as the day wears on but i'm telling you the picture and clarity is first rate! you only need 720p for a hdtv 32" or smaller so my requirments when deciding on a bedroom tv were: 32", the 0.00 price range, a name brand, the best overall tv possible at the best price and a high energy star rating because i sleep with it on all night. after looking at sony, samsung, toshiba and others i decided on this one. panasonic has been building quality tv's for 50 years and this set proves it and it has the highest energy star rating in it's class. even the sound is good, not as deep and rich sounding as the 46" ,000.00 hd/lcd samsung in my front room but for a 6.00 32" lcd/tv it is fairly good![it's a good stereo sound but with low amplification].........p.s. for your living room hdtv you would want a 25,000-1 contast ratio or more for viewing in all kinds of light. my samsung is 25,000 - 1 and it looks great morning, noon and night in any kind of light!............update 6/21/09...........after 6 months of ownership i couldn't be happier with this unit! has met and exceeded all my expectations. good job panasonic!.........update 2/11/10.........after all this time now with this lcd/tv being played between 10 to 12 hours everyday without ever skipping a beat all i can say is good job panasonic!

LG 32LH20 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Gloss Black

LG 32LH20 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Gloss Black Review

For TV's generally only one thing matters - the screen quality. I went down to my local store and watched all the TV's on display side by side. for 32" tv's in the 720p category, hands down this tv had the best image quality. All LG had to do to win me over was to deliver on the basics - decent price, decent looks and decent functionality. no problems there. this tv looks nice, it's easy to use and the sound is great. I've now had this TV for over 6 months and am still very happy with it.

I have to say at first i didn't care about the energy saving function, but I really like it now. Because LCD screens are so bright nowadays, when watching the TV at night the energy saving function allows me to instantly dim the screen in steady increments. really good feature.

Normally I used to be really only into Japanese tv's, but the S. korean brands really seem better. saying that though having looked at the other tv's in the shop recently and the new chinese brands seem really good. bottom line - it ain't always the brand, it's really down to what's being put in front of you.
